  • Description: The last two years have been the most challenging years for charter school budgeting in recent memory. Schools have to look closely at their budgets and make difficult choices to bring budgets into balance. Panelists will discuss best practices used in the field, and processes for navigating and making tough budget decisions. Panelists will share specific recommendations, strategies for coping with a changing funding landscape, areas for trimming and consolidation, and potential funding sources.

Eight-Step Process to Successful Charter Petition Renewal

  • Strand: Authorizer Relations
  • Description: Participants will learn how to best approach and execute the process of developing their charter renewal petition. Areas covered will include, reviewing the original charter, evaluating school program against authorizer criteria, analyzing school data, performing an internal compliance audit, re-writing the charter reflecting past successes and future goals, creating ancillary documents, generating a sound renewal petition budget, and advocating the petition.
