P1 Certification Brings Good News
The certification of the first principal apportionment (P1) brought good news, in what has been the most difficult funding environment that schools have ever had to endure. The following is an update on funding rates, cash flow schedule and the Education Protection Account (EPA) based on the CDE's P1 certification.

Proposition 30 and the Education Protection Account Q&A
The passage of Proposition 30 in November 2012 stabilized funding for schools this year by creating the Education Protection Account, but also created many questions about how those funds would be calculated and when they would be distributed. The CDE’s External Services Subcommittee recently had a discussion, which clarified some of these points.

EdTec Presented Benchmarks Session at 2012 National Charters Conference!
EdTec
was honored to present a breakout session on Benchmarks in Budgeting at the 2012 National Charter Schools Conference, June 19th – 22nd in Minneapolis.
This session featured
a comparative analysis of averages, ranges and patterns in charter school expense data to provide perspective to the budgeting process.
Presenters demonstrated how to support decisionmaking through examining statewide data broken down into subgroups according to
demographics, region and years in operation.
