Business Consulting

Perhaps the highest-value differentiating element of the EdTec back-office service is in the area of business consulting. The Client Manager and, as necessary, EdTec's senior management will assist the school leader and the Board in a variety of critical areas, as part of the back-office service.

EdTec helps its schools with a wide variety of business and strategic issues from negotiating contracts and MOUs to creating a detailed cost analysis of a school's strategic options related to transportation, staffing, or special education services. Recently, EdTec helped one of its clients save more than $100,000 by helping the school understand the cost implications of three transportation options.

Our Business Consulting support includes:

  • Negotiations: EdTec supports the school director and board in negotiations related to issues such as MOUs, facilities, and SPED with districts, landlords, vendors, and others, including developing presentations and analyses to buttress the school's position.
  • Strategic Budget Development: EdTec can assist the school director and board in strategic budget planning and scenario development /analysis.
  • Financing Support: EdTec assists clients in preparing loan packages and connecting the school with non-traditional/specialized funding sources such as New Market Tax Credits, Low Income Investment Fund resources, and philanthropic funds.
  • Special Projects: such as finding food service providers, analyzing transportation options, and modeling growth and facilities scenarios.
  • Funding program evaluation: EdTec helps ensure our partner schools are knowledgeable on and participating in all worthwhile funding opportunities. EdTec proactively does the leg-work in evaluating funding programs to:
    • Gauge the level of effort to apply and comply versus the amount of eligible funding for the school
    • Identify funding opportunities that are a potential fit based on our school partners' needs and specific characteristics (e.g., student population, school calendar / instructional minutes, programmatic focus / synergies, etc.)
  • Legal Services Management: EdTec can help the school and board manage legal services to keep costs down.
